William Chapman

1st Year Trainee Solicitor

I was born and raised in the North East and studied here for several years which cemented a real sense of pride in my region. I completed my studies at Northumbria University, and I have had a strong desire to work in the region. I decided to apply to Sintons as I was familiar with the strength of the firm in many practice areas and the firms desire to grow departments and the firm.

After completing my law degree at Northumbria University, I worked as a paralegal at a large corporate firm in Leeds for circa 2 years. During my time there, I worked extensively alongside all levels of staff, this allowed me to gain exposure to the requirements of all roles within a law firm from Trainee to Partner. I also gained exposure to client facing work which allowed me to gain crucial experience which will prepare me for being a Trainee. I enjoyed my time working in Leeds however I realised I wanted to pursue my career back in the North East.

I was fortunate to be invited to the Sintons assessment week for prospective trainees. During this week I experienced the welcoming nature of the firm. I completed several tasks on this week which provided for the opportunity to complete work in several new practice areas and also to see the kind of work Trainees are expected to complete.

I was offered the Training Contract to start in September 2023 and I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds during my time at Sintons.
