Sintons support Dementia Action Week
According to the Alzheimer’s Society, over 30,000 people in the North East are currently living with dementia, with this figure set to rise to over 40,000 by 2021. The Wills, Trusts and Probate team at Sintons are fully committed to assisting our clients living with dementia, and supporting those clients whose loved ones may be affected.
Sintons have been supporting Dementia Action Week, a campaign run by the Alzheimer’s Society. The aim is to get people talking about dementia. It can be difficult for friends and family to know how to approach a loved one with dementia, so the campaign encourages conversations, and gives tip and advice on how to talk to a person living with the condition.
Every member of the Wills, Trusts and Probate team at Sintons is a Dementia Friend. This means that we have received training to develop our understanding and awareness of dementia, with a view to helping those people in the local community living with dementia.
The team also has a wealth of experience in dealing with clients who are living with dementia, or those who are fearful of what a diagnosis of dementia could mean for them. We advise on many issues of concern to these clients including Wills and Lasing Powers of Attorney.
Although Dementia Action Week runs from 20th – 26th May, we aim to support the principles all year round. We recognise that dementia affects every person differently, and can tailor our service to suit that individual’s needs, for instance by offering home visits if a person’s mobility and coordination is affected by dementia.
Sintons is proud of being a Newcastle firm and, in order to support a local charity providing care, support and advice to people in the North East with dementia, we are once again this year donating 5% of the cost of every lasting power of attorney that we are instructed to make until the end of May to Dementia Matters.
