Plans for boutique hotel in Newcastle city centre move forward

Plans to create a boutique hotel and bar on Collingwood Street in Newcastle city centre are progressing, with the licence for the new venue being secured by Sintons.

The development will see the Metropolitan House site transformed into a five storey, 21 bedroom hotel with a bar and a roof terrace for the use of hotel guests.

Zafer Saygilier, CEO of hospitality and leisure firm, Sayturk Group, explained: The previous licence on the site was very restrictive so we worked with Sintons to secure a new agreement.

“This was a hugely important part of the project and I knew I could trust Sintons to manage the process and liaise with all the relevant authorities on our behalf.”

The building on Collingwood Street has stood empty for several years and was previously an office and retail site.

The licence application was managed by Sarah Smith, partner and head of Sintons’ team of licensing specialists.

“Sarah is the best at what she does,” said Zafer. “She’s very straightforward to work with, I always feel safe in the knowledge she has our best interests at heart and I will absolutely work with Sarah on all our future licensing projects.”

Sarah Smith added: “The Metropolitan will really help to revitalise this part of Collingwood Street by bringing an unused building in the heart of Newcastle’s historic centre back to life.

“Zafer and his team are planning to transform the site into something very special and we’re all looking forward to seeing it take shape over the coming months.”
