A fifth branch of the award-winning cocktail bar, Mother Mercy, has opened in Heaton – with support from Sintons’ licensing team.
Mother Mercy Heaton is the group’s first neighbourhood bar, joining its existing sites in Newcastle city centre and Sheepfolds Stables in Sunderland.
Neil Donachie, founder and director of Mother Mercy, explains their vision: “We’ve got really ambitious plans for the future of Mother Mercy and we know there are lots of opportunities here in the North East.
“In Heaton, we’ve created a space which is relaxed, intimate and welcoming. It offers the table service and expertly-crafted cocktails we’re known for, and complements the vibrant bar and restaurant scene on Chillingham Road.”
Mother Mercy Heaton’s cocktail menu features seasonal ingredients, innovative flavours, and a focus on exceptional quality. Inside the venue incorporates Mother Mercy’s signature pops of colour and warm wooden tones.
The licensing for the new venue was managed by Sarah Smith, partner at Sintons.
“Sarah’s our go-to when it comes to licensing,” said Neil. “We’ve worked with her for years now and we know she’ll give us the advice we need.”
Sarah Smith commented: “The Mother Mercy team really puts in the work when they plan a new venue and it’s paid off, as Mother Mercy Heaton is off to a flying start. They’ve reinvigorated a previously empty space and added something very special to the local community.”
Mother Mercy Heaton joins the other Mother Mercy venues which are: Mother Mercy Cloth Market in Newcastle city centre; Café Mercy on Grey Street, Newcastle; Mother Mercy Fenwick, within Fenwick department store located on floor one; and the Mother Mercy Cocktail Cabin in Sunderland’s Sheepfolds Stables.
