Woman injured on a work placement receives compensation with help from Sintons

A man who was injured while on a work experience placement has secured compensation of over £14,000.

While in a period of unemployment, Robert Rapier was offered a placement as a gardener so he could gain some experience.

However, Mr Rapier, from Neath in Wales, had an accident while replacing some floorboards. He suffered a shoulder dislocation which impeded his ability to go about his everyday life.

After contacting law firm Sintons and undergoing extensive medical examinations, evidence concluded that he was at risk of a similar dislocation happening again in the future.

Following lengthy negotiations on Mr Rapier’s behalf, a settlement of just over £14,000 was reached, which exceeded the predicted pay-out.

The case was handled by Angela Parkinson, senior litigator in Sintons’ nationally-renowned Personal Injury team. The team handles cases from across the UK, and has been named as one of the best around by both the Legal 500 and Chambers legal directories.

Angela said: “This was a very unfortunate situation where Mr Rapier’s efforts to get some experience to increase his chances of getting a job left him injured and having to put his efforts to find work on hold for some time.

“While our negotiations with the defendant did take some time, we were able to work hard on our client’s behalf to get a very good outcome to the case. Mr Rapier was absolutely delighted with the settlement and we wish him well for the future.”
