Rose Foster

2nd year Trainee Solicitor

I am originally from Sunderland but moved away for University. Although I loved living in both Liverpool and Manchester, I always knew I wanted to come home to the North East. I thought the idea of working in Newcastle city centre would be exciting, and it has certainly not disappointed. The personal feel as well as the multicultural element made it feel like home straightaway, and there seems to be ample opportunities for networking and meeting other young professionals.

I decided at the age 16 that I wanted to work in law after doing legal work experience with a law firm in Manchester. I decided that although this was the profession I wanted to pursue, I wanted a firm with strong ties to the local community, but also a distinguished footprint in the business world. Sintons fits this description perfectly.

I found Sintons to be a professional yet welcoming firm and was immediately put at ease during the recruitment process. The vacation scheme I took part in consisted in a week of working at the firm, I gained an insight into Sintons life and how the firm and its employees work. I was then given a mentor whilst I was completing my LPC and whilst on my year abroad. This was a good way of ensuring I was up to date with what was happening within the firm and made me feel like I was still part of the team even though I had not started my training contract.

I learnt a great deal about the firm’s values and visions, both of which appealed to my core morals. I found Sintons had a good balance of business yet personal services with a wide range of cliental. The opportunities to work on such a variety of cases was appealing to me and the challenge that came with that of tailoring my knowledge to different situations.
