Time Limits in Asbestos Related Compensation Claims
There is a three year statutory time limit for making a claim for compensation in England and Wales. In general, time begins to run from the date you were diagnosed with an asbestos related injury; however there are circumstances where this rule does not apply.
Sometimes it is not known at the time of death that the sufferer died from an asbestos related illness. In these circumstances you have three years from the date of death or three years from the date you knew or ought to have known that the sufferer died from an asbestos related illness to bring a claim for compensation.
