Alison joined Sintons as a partner in January 2025. She is an experienced healthcare lawyer working mainly with primary care clients.

Alison helps individual practitioners, practices and multi-practice healthcare organisations, including GP federations and primary care networks, find practical solutions to the unique and complex challenges that they face. She is nationally recognised as a leading commercial primary care lawyer and for her expertise in the legal frameworks governing the GP and dental sectors.

Experience:

  • Alison advises primary care clients such as GP practices, dental providers, primary care networks and federations on how to structure and govern their businesses effectively and in compliance with legal regulations governing the sectors. She prepares partnership agreements, PCN network agreements and constitutions for GP federations, as well as joint venture agreements for collaborative arrangements between providers
  • She assists both GP and dental clients with incorporating their practices/networks and advises on company law matters
  • She handles practice mergers, acquisitions and disposals and advises on the formation and governance of “super-partnerships”. She also advises practitioners wishing to retire on succession arrangements for their practices and on 24-hour retirement requirements for NHS pension purposes
  • Alison has expertise in partnership law. She prepares partnership and expense-sharing agreements and has developed a niche practice of advising on partnership disputes, helping GP and dental clients to understand their legal position and options, with the aim of resolving disputes without costly litigation
  • Alison advises primary care providers and subcontractors  on NHS contracting matters, including GMS, PMS and APMS contracts and their dental equivalents

Quotes:

Alison is recognised in Chambers & Partners as a leading expert in medical partnerships and is noted as having “huge experience and knowledge in the area”.  Clients have commented that “we value her understanding of the sector and of our situation and needs” and “she is excellent”.

Outside of work, Alison volunteers regularly at the People’s Kitchen in Newcastle. She enjoys walking the hills and beaches of Northumberland, reading and crochet as well as sharing good food and wine with friends and family.
