A man who suffered permanent injury to his hand after a workplace incident secures a settlement of £85,000, with assistance from Sintons.
The man sustained a serious crushing injury to his right hand at work in October 2016, whilst setting up machinery for a production run.
While doing so his right dominant hand went into the unguarded rollers.
His serious injuries required a 15-day stay in hospital, during which time he underwent treatment including a skin graft.
Despite ongoing intensive hand therapy, he has been left with significant and permanent disability, with reduced grip strength and impaired dexterity.
He must live with permanent scarring and disfigurement, and it is likely that osteoarthritis will develop in his hand which could lead to further loss of hand function. Further plastic surgery may also be needed into the future.
The trauma resulted in psychological injuries in the form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and an adjustment disorder.
His former employer denied liability for almost four years before an agreement could be reached meaning that the claim was not settled until July of this year.
He appointed specialists at law firm Sintons to act on his behalf, in what was a complex case.
