With a trusted reputation and a wealth of experience, Sintons Neurotrauma team are skilled at pursuing the right result for each client.
Representing neurotrauma clients, including child serious injury cases, requires specialist knowledge to navigate the many challenges brain-injured clients and their families can face. Not all firms of solicitors have this specialist level of expertise and it’s those clients Sintons can assist.
When a client’s needs haven’t been met elsewhere
Following a complex brain injury, it is crucial that early rehabilitation takes place but, more importantly, the entire team understand and appreciate the client’s and family’s needs. If a client and their loved ones feel as though their needs are not being met it is possible to change firms, or seek a second opinion before doing so. This is known as a takeover case. In these circumstances Sintons are happy to offer a free consultation to review a case and provide a second opinion, even if a client is already represented.
Emily Booth is a Solicitor in the Neurotrauma team at Sintons. She explains: “Our priority is always the best interests of the client. If, after reviewing the case, we consider that your existing solicitors are managing the matter appropriately, we will recommend that you may wish to consider staying with them. Where we believe that a different approach could strengthen the case or better support the client, we will explain how and advise on the process for changing solicitors.”
One such client became a takeover case for Sintons after the firm she initially instructed in 2023 were not the right fit, and she felt that they provided little communication or help. She needed a solicitor to support her with her daughter’s case, following a road traffic collision in which her daughter was seriously injured.
The client explains, “The process was very difficult, everyone was relying on me for information and answers that I did not know or understand, there were no explanations given. I felt like I had to deal with everything in addition to chasing people up all the time. This was emotionally really distressing during a period when I was also recovering from accident-related injuries.”
The client adds, “It felt like decisions were being made about my child without my consideration and I told my child’s Occupational Therapist that I was struggling. She then suggested changing solicitors and recommended Sintons, having worked with them in the past. I was petrified that I would lose the little progress that had been made.”
“I wish I had engaged Sintons from the start.”
Sintons reviewed the case and became involved. The client adds, “One of my first interactions was a home visit from Andrew McGowan, Head of Neurotrauma at Sintons. To me, this felt like a major milestone as I had never even met my previous solicitor. We have made a lot of positive progress with my child’s claim since Rebecca Maddock has been the instructed Partner. Rebecca has helped put together an amazing team who are all focused on my child’s rehabilitation and working on how to navigate a life-changing injury. The communication with the team is so different as Rebecca and Associate Solicitor Nadia Hussain are always available for me to ensure my questions always get answered.”
The client now feels informed, secure and confident that Sintons are pursuing the right outcomes for her child. She adds, “The support I have now is completely different. With the right team behind me, I feel as if I have control again. I wish I had engaged Sintons from the start.”
The breadth of expertise held by the Sintons Neurotrauma team is widely respected, even by other firms, as Emily adds: “Often other firms and contacts seek out our advice as specialist neurotrauma solicitors if they feel like they are not equipped to deal with the matter, or if they feel like the client is not getting the representation they are entitled to.”
