Supporting innovation in healthcare

This year’s Bright Ideas in Health Awards, which celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams working within the NHS, industry and academia, are once again being sponsored by Sintons.

The awards, which are organised by Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria, are given to people who have identified ways of improving services for patients, either through a technical innovation or through better service delivery.

Amanda McCabe, partner at Sintons and head of the team which specialises in healthcare law, explained why the firm has once again chosen to sponsor the awards: “Our team of specialist healthcare lawyers works closely with our clients in NHS Trusts and other healthcare organisations and we see the incredible work that goes on every day to deliver the best standards of care for people.

“It’s a sector where innovation is constantly taking place and Sintons is proud to play a small part in recognising those people whose ideas and ambition are improving healthcare services for us all.”

There are 10 categories in this year’s Bright Ideas in Health Awards including the Innovative MedTech Award, which is open to organisations which have developed a new medical device, new piece of equipment or diagnostic tool. 2024 also sees the inclusion of a new award category, the Innovative Women’s Health Award, recognising innovations improving women’s health.

The competition is open to SMEs, NHS organisations and academic institutions in the North East of England and North Cumbria.

“The award categories span a wide range of areas of innovation, from clinical education to carbon reduction,” said Amanda. “They represent the breadth of work taking place in the North East and Cumbria and we look forward to finding out who’s shortlisted, later in the year.”

Sintons’ healthcare team delivers advice to healthcare professionals, businesses and organisations and its lawyers are recognised nationally for their expertise in this fast-moving area of work.
