Three members of Sintons’ industrial disease team got their hands dirty to support the opening of a regional cancer charity’s new headquarters.
Suzanne Maddison, head of the industrial disease department, asbestos solicitor Raelene Lingam and secretary Elaine Brown all lent a hand in decorating the new HQ of cancer charity FACT (Fighting All Cancers Together), as part of the firm’s CSR commitment.
The new building, in Swalwell, gives the charity more space to offer its wide range of services, which include practical help, support and social opportunities for people fighting cancer, and extending that support to their families too. It also offers room for FACT to expand.
FACT was established by Joanne Smith in 2008 after her own battle with breast cancer, during which time she realised the need for a service to help with practical issues for patients and their families.
Sintons allocates 80 days each year for its staff to use for CSR activities in the local community, and the firm is active in its charity commitment.
Raelene Lingam said: “We are well aware of FACT and the work it does with cancer patients across the region and their families too. The level of support they provide on a number of levels is invaluable. We have introduced many of our clients to FACT who have benefitted enormously from their tailored advice and personal approach.
“Suzanne, Elaine and I were only too keen to muck in and help FACT with the upheaval of moving premises – none of us are expert decorators, but we were very willing volunteers and were pleased to give up our time to help such a great charity.”
