Sintons take on Dragon Boat Festival
The neurotrauma team at Sintons recently took part in a dragon boat event to raise money for a specialist treatment unit which supports people across the North East.
The law firm entered a 20-person team to participate in the Tees Dragon Boat Festival, a novel event which saw people of all levels of experience taking part in 200-metre sprint races in dragon boats.
The event, which was held at the Tees Water Sports Centre in Stockton-on-Tees, saw all teams participate in a minimum of three qualifying races, ahead of a Grand Final which saw the first dragon boat to cross the line crowned the Dragon Boat Champion of Tees 2019.
Sintons, whose neurotrauma team handles cases from across the UK and is regarded as one of the leading specialist serious injury law firms in the North of England, is using its participation to raise money for the regional spinal cord injuries centre at The James Cook University Hospital.
The specialist centre supports patients across a geographical area from the Scottish borders to Barrow in the west and Whitby in the east, and cares for patients from the day of their injury with life-long follow-up.
John Davis, consultant in Sintons’ neurotrauma team and one of the UK’s leading serious injury lawyers, said: “The spinal cord injuries centre does an utterly fantastic job of supporting patients and their families at what are often hugely traumatic times. I have seen first-hand over many years the outstanding levels of medical care and wider support provided by the unit, so we are delighted to be raising money to support their efforts in some way.
“The Tees Dragon Boat Festival is a fun event and certainly something a little different for us all. We had a great day while raising vital funds for such a great cause.”
