Sintons’ Magnificent Six take on the Great North Run Solo challenge
A team of runners from Sintons are taking part in the Great North Run Solo challenge, following the cancellation of the iconic annual event due to COVID-19.
In the 40th anniversary year of the Great North Run, the 13.1 mile run from Newcastle to South Shields has been replaced by an alternative challenge, which will raise funds for the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.
Between June 28 – the birthday of the Great North Run – and September 13, the scheduled date of the 2020 half marathon, runners are being asked to complete a minimum of 40 runs of any distance over the 78 day period.
A six-strong team from Sintons – head of banking Jane Meikle, head of real estate Mark Dobbin, real estate senior associate Louise Kelly, family senior associate Louise Masters, Court of Protection lawyer Sophie Robinson and real estate solicitor Alex Wilkins – are now channeling their efforts towards the Great North Run Solo.
As well as raising money for the NHS Charities Together through their entry fees, the team will also be fundraising for Sintons’ nominated staff charity, the North of England Children’s Cancer Research Fund (NECCR).
Mark Quigley, managing partner of Sintons, said: “The cancellation of the Great North Run, such an iconic event for our region, and particularly in its landmark anniversary year, was very unfortunate, but sadly unavoidable amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the creation of Great North Run Solo has been a welcome boost for the many runners across the UK and overseas whose training would have already been well underway.
“Our team at Sintons have willingly embraced this new challenge and have the support of everyone in the firm in their efforts. Health and wellbeing is something we continually promote amongst our staff, and making the time to dedicate to exercise is hugely important for both mental and physical health, particularly in the current climate.
“We wish our team well with the Great North Run Solo and any sponsorship in support of their efforts, in aid of NECCR, a charity we are so proud to support, would be greatly appreciated.”
