Sintons hailed for excellence throughout the firm by Legal 500 2019
Sintons has maintained its reputation as one of the leading law firms in the North of England, with Legal 500 2019 again hailing the strength and capability across all areas of the business.
In newly-released rankings, Legal 500 renews its praise of the expertise that runs throughout Sintons and recommends the law firm in 16 key areas of the business.
Legal 500 – an independent assessment of law firms across the North based on examples of work, interviews and client and peer testimonials – also names six of Sintons’ lawyers as leading individuals and a further five as rising stars.
The latest high rankings come at a time of strong progress for Sintons as a result of its Strategy for Growth, which has seen strategic development across the firm alongside the addition of key new lawyers to help grow further.
They also come as the latest endorsement of Sintons’ strong growth and expertise, following the win of five Northern Law Awards earlier this year, including the coveted Law Firm of the Year.
In Legal 500 2019, Sintons maintains its reputation as a leading name in the North and beyond in healthcare, personal injury and licensing, and is also hailed as being a go-to advisor in areas of the business including corporate and commercial, banking, employment, debt, family, wills, trust and probate, real estate, construction and dispute resolution.
Its leading individuals, all of whom are long-standing leaders in their field and have been acknowledged by Legal 500 for many years, are:
- John Davis, consultant, neurotrauma
- Phil Davison, partner and head of personal injury
- Paul Nickalls, partner and head of wills, trusts and probate
- Amanda Maskery, partner and head of NHS healthcare
- Karen Simms, partner and head of corporate and commercial
- Sarah Smith, partner and head of licensing
The firm’s rising stars, all of whom have strong and growing reputations in their respective fields, are:

Mark Quigley, managing partner of Sintons, said: “Legal 500 2019 again rightly acknowledges Sintons as one of the leading law firms in the North of England, with national capability in many areas of the business and excellence running throughout the firm. We are delighted to maintain our long-held reputation for excellence in so many different practice areas, and these latest rankings add further independent recognition of our work, following on from the Northern Law Awards 2019 and previous rankings from Legal 500 and Chambers.
“Through our Strategy for Growth, we have seen significant and continuing development of the firm, with our excellent progress as a business underpinned by the recruitment and retention of outstanding lawyers, many of whom relocate from elsewhere in the UK to join Sintons, such is their belief in our ambition. Our vision is to set the standard for legal excellence and become the law firm of choice for individuals and organisations regional and nationally, and to again achieve such strong rankings from Legal 500 is a clear endorsement that we are indeed delivering on this.”
