Settlement secured following workplace accident

A man who sustained physical and psychological injuries in a workplace incident has been supported in securing a settlement by law firm Sintons.

The worker was injured after slipping on an oily liquid on the floor while moving between stands in the warehouse where he worked.

He sustained an injury to his back, which ultimately led to his employer terminating his employment due to the chronic and limiting pain and stiffness experienced since the incident.

Medical experts said that as a result of his injury, an underlying degenerative back condition was accelerated, and he has remained unemployed since the incident in January 2018.

Additionally, he developed a psychological adjustment disorder with acute stress symptoms, mood and sleep disturbance, anxiety, concentration issues and social withdrawal.

The man turned to Sintons for help in securing a settlement from his employer, with the law firm having a national reputation for its personal injury legal expertise and client service.

Associate David Knipe, who has over 20 years’ experience in personal injury litigation, acted for the claimant, and was able to secure interim payments to assist with the man’s financial situation after losing his job.

The case settled only after court proceedings had begun, meaning the early interim payments were particularly valuable to the claimant.

Praising the service he received from David and the team at Sintons, the claimant said: “I really appreciated the professional approach and help in every aspect of my case.”

David Knipe said: “This has been a distressing time for our client, who was injured while going about his job and has sadly been left unemployed. He shows great stoicism in continuing to battle both the mental and physical impact of what happened to him that day.

“We were able to intervene on his behalf and settle the case, securing a settlement which will help in moving on with his life. The fact we were able to obtain interim payments was very important in this case, given our client’s financial circumstances as a result of being made unemployed.

“We are very pleased to have been able to support him in accessing the justice he deserves, and wish him the very best for the future.”
