A man who suffered a serious injury to his finger in a workplace incident involving a saw has been awarded £45,000 with support from Sintons.
The man was working as a cabinet maker and was using a rotating saw to remove a narrow strip of oak when the incident occurred. The guard was already damaged and needed to be moved due to the size of the timber being sawn.
While cutting the piece of timber, his left gloved hand became caught in the unguarded blades, causing severe injury to his left index finger.
The man, a Polish national, was left with permanent difficulty in performing fine manipulative tasks, resulting in disadvantage in the labour market.
He turned to personal injury specialists at Sintons to support him in his battle for compensation, who were able to secure his financial settlement, as well as enabling him to access bespoke therapy to improve the function of his hand.
