Over £27,000 raised so far for The People’s Kitchen

Sintons and its clients have raised more than £27,000 for Newcastle charity, The People’s Kitchen, exceeding its two-year fundraising goal with three months still remaining.

Every two years, the Sintons team supports a different charity which is selected by a staff vote. Since April 2022, the firm has been fundraising for The People’s Kitchen, which supports homeless and vulnerable people in the city.

David Pritchard, Head of Marketing and chair of from Sintons’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee, explained: “The People’s Kitchen provides food, clothing, toiletries and more, helping to make life on the streets a little bit easier for so many people. It’s been a safe haven since it was founded in 1985 and we are in awe of what the team there achieves.

“It’s been a privilege for us to learn more about The People’s Kitchen and be able to support their work.”

Sintons’ initial fundraising target was £25,000 and money has been raised through a huge range of events for staff members, their friends, families and clients.

The firm’s trainee and apprentice solicitors raised more than £1,000 this summer by making boxes of cakes for colleagues and followed up with a Halloween-themed cake sale. Sintons’ team and clients brought their pets along to a charity dog walk and the CSR committee members also organised quiz nights, netball and football tournaments.

David added: “We still have three months to go to raise more money for The People’s Kitchen so we want to keep pushing and really smash our target.

“More events are coming up soon and everyone is welcome to join in and play a part in raising money for this much-needed charity.”

The People’s Kitchen, on Bath Lane in Newcastle city centre, is run entirely by volunteers and serves up more than 250 meals every day, 365 days a year. It provides friendship as well as practical support with warm clothing, sleeping bags and hot showers. Find out more at www.peopleskitchen.co.uk.
