A Newcastle foodbank which helps families in crisis has been given a substantial donation by Sintons.
Throughout December, staff at the law firm have donated food and essential items to the Newcastle East Foodbank, which was supplemented by a £500 contribution by the Sintons partners.
The Newcastle East Foodbank, which supports families across the east end of Newcastle, is seeing unprecedented demands amidst the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the first half of 2020 alone gave out 26,228 parcels of emergency supplies.
Sintons’ donation will help the Foodbank’s efforts to feed families this Christmas.
The law firm is a longstanding supporter of the Newcastle East Foodbank, which has become one of the busiest food banks in the country since its creation in 2013.
It works with families in the east end of the city – one of the most economically and socially deprived areas of the North East – to offer emergency food assistance, and usually are able to support them to overcome their food crisis after three visits.
By offering guidance and assistance in accessing other support, the Foodbank and its volunteers enable families to help themselves and not be reliant on food parcels in the long term.
