Law graduates invited to apply for Sintons’ training contracts

Applications are now open for Sintons’ graduate programme, which offers a two year training contract and the opportunity to work across a range of specialist areas of law.

We are inviting applications from potential candidate who are looking to commence their training contract in September 2026. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2024.

Gemma Hewitt, Head of People Services, explains: “Every year, we welcome a new cohort of graduates to the team and support them to become qualified solicitors.

“Our trainees get hands-on experience and are able to learn from experienced colleagues who are specialists in areas including employment, neurotrauma and real estate law – many of whom started here as graduates themselves.”

One of Sintons’ former graduate trainees, Emily Richardson, described her experience at Sintons, saying: “We worked directly with clients and were able to exercise independence whilst still receiving fantastic guidance from our supervisors which means we had so many opportunities to learn”.

“It is rare to find a firm with such a fantastic range and standard of expertise, which at the same time is friendly, inviting and welcoming.”

Having completed her training contract, Emily is now a qualified solicitor in Sintons’ real estate department, where she specialises in working with rural businesses.

Sintons’ graduate programme runs alongside its apprenticeship programme, which offers another route into a law career. The firm is one of the founding partners of the North East Solicitor Apprenticeship (NESA), which offers a six-year training scheme as a means to enter the legal profession, rather than the traditional route of qualification as a lawyer.

Sintons is one of the largest full service law firms in the North East and is accredited by Investors in People. Its clients include businesses and individuals and its team includes specialists in personal and family law, commercial and corporate law.

“Our graduates get the chance to put their learning into practice in a supportive environment where their contributions are really valued,” said Gemma Hewitt. “Our people are regularly recognised as leaders in their fields and this is a brilliant opportunity to start your career in a top-tier law firm.”

Graduates are invited to submit their applications via the training contract application form, by 31 March 2024. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to spend time in the firm in June 2024, gaining work experience and getting to know the team.
