A healthcare assistant who suffered long-lasting effects after being assaulted at work has secured a settlement of £55,000.
The female worker was subjected to an assault by a dementia patient back in November 2015, in the healthcare facility where she worked. During the incident, she was kicked, she had her hair pulled, her face was forced onto a kitchen worktop and she was held in that position for around 20 minutes before assistance arrived.
The woman, from the South of England, was severely traumatised by the incident and was forced to take considerable time off work as a result, with numerous periods of absence occurring once she returned.
Due to ongoing anxiety and migraines as a result of the assault, the healthcare assistant was unable to sustain her pre-assault level of overtime leading to a significant loss of earnings.
The woman turned to personal injury specialists at law firm Sintons for support in pursuing a claim.
