Golf day to benefit Daft as a Brush

A golf day is being held by law firm Sintons in aid of much-loved cancer charity, Daft as a Brush.

The event has been organised to raise vital funds for Daft as a Brush, which Sintons has chosen as the focus of its fundraising efforts for two years. The Newcastle-based law firm has committed to raise £15,000 during that time to buy a new ambulance for the charity.

Daft as Brush provides staffed custom-made vehicles to offer free transport to and from hospital appointments for chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients. The charity covers in and around Newcastle, North and South Tyneside, Northumberland and Durham.

The golf day, on May 16, includes breakfast, a two course meal, and prizes for longest drive, the hole in one challenge, and ‘Beat the Pro’. It is being held at Close House, home of the world’s only two Lee Westwood courses, and last year the venue for the British Masters tournament.

Mark Quigley, managing partner of Sintons, said: “We have held a number of events as part of our fundraising efforts for Daft as a Brush, and this golf day is set to prove one of the most popular yet. We are raising money for a much-loved cause, which plays such an important role in the lives of so many cancer patients across the region, and are delighted with the support we have received so far from businesses and individuals who have donated so generously and have attended our events.

“This promises to be a fun and informal occasion for golfers, and would urge anyone to come and have a go and enjoy the day in the fantastic surroundings of Close House.”

  • Entry fee is £300 for a team of four. The event is held on Thursday, May 16, from 10am to 4pm. To attend, please contact Peter Jennings on peter.jennings@sintons.co.uk or 0191 226 7907
