Dicksons Pork Butchers Expands Retail Locations with Newcastle Law Firm Sintons
Dicksons, the South Shields based pork butchers are expanding into new territories as the family business opens three new retail outlets in deals managed by Newcastle law firm Sintons, an investment worth in excess of £500,000.
As the business develops its wholesale division supplying national retailers such as Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco from their South Shields factory, the new shop units come at a time of expansion in the retail side of the business. The company has now increased its presence on the region’s high streets and shopping centres to 24 shops, creating 17 new jobs in the process.
As part of their continuing growth, Dicksons worked with Sintons to manage legal proceedings in relation to securing three new retail units in Whitley Bay, Cramlington and Pelaw, securing leases on two units and purchasing the third .
Michael Dickson, managing director of Dicksons said: “We are focused on investing in the high street to further develop the reach of our brand and remain keen to act on opportunities to grow our retail estate in the right locations.
“Although we were able to identify units in key settings which offered strong potential as Dicksons retail outlets, each site came with its own unique set of challenges which we worked in partnership with Sintons to manage.
“Sintons provided Dicksons with valuable assistance to secure lease arrangements on two of the new sites and the third existing butchery business. Sintons also completed several lease arrangements on current units, most recently in North Shields and Jarrow to fit with our business objectives for the future of our retail estate.”
Having opened its first North East shop more than 60 years ago, Dicksons is well established in the region for its high quality range of handcrafted pies, home cooked deli meats and hams, speciality sausages and signature beech smoked saveloys.
Sintons has been legal adviser to Dicksons for nearly twenty years, and has acted on numerous new property and business acquisitions. Christopher Welch, Partner at Sintons, has led on all corporate matters, while Associate Tom Wills handles all property aspects.
Christopher Welch said: “Having worked with Dicksons for many years, we have supported Michael, Elena and the Dickson family through various phases of the evolution and growth of the business, which has seen them become one of the region’s best-loved brands and leading family-run businesses. We are very pleased to have been able to secure these three latest sites for Dicksons as they continue to increase their presence across the North East.”
