Dentist-turned-Barrister Addresses North East Dental Seminar
A leading barrister who began his working life as a dentist will share his unique dual knowledge of both sectors at an event for the North East dental sector next week.
Mike Hill qualified as a dental surgeon and practised dentistry for 15 years, before coming to the Bar in 2004. He is now a barrister at Trinity Chambers specialising in dental negligence, clinical negligence and personal injury cases.
Alongside Mark Quigley Partner in Newcastle law firm Sintons, which is a nationally renowned dental specialist and certified financial planner Ray Prince, from Rutherford Wilkinson, he will share his expertise at the North East Dental Seminar, to be held on October 9.
Dentists attending the event which will attract CPD points will be given an insight into the litigation process from Mike’s dual dentist/lawyer perspective, and he will also examine the areas of dental practice that most commonly lead to allegations of negligence, including the significance of accurate record keeping.
Mark Quigley is a regulatory specialist and works widely with dentists on compliance issues, and will address the seminar on how to deal with breach notices. Sintons has a national reputation for its work in the dental sector, and its specialist dental team led by Amanda Maskery, Chair of the Association of Specialist Providers to Dentists (ASPD) handles transactions from across the UK.
Ray Prince, a specialist financial advisor to dentists for over 20 years, will speak about changes to the NHS Pension Scheme in 2015 and how that will impact dentists, as well as looking at the changes to pensions announced in the latest Budget.
Mike Hill said: “ We hope to be able to provide some practical guidance to dentists at the North East Dental Seminar, on topics such as how they can help themselves steer clear of potentially costly litigation and what to do if they ever find themselves in that situation.”
The seminar is free to attend, and will be held at the Newcastle Marriott MetroCentre from 6pm to 9pm on Thursday, October 9. To register your attendance, contact peter.jennings@sintons.co.uk.
