Construction specialist joins Sintons

A construction lawyer who started his career in the building profession has joined law firm Sintons.

Alex Rayner has moved from a specialist construction law firm in London to join North East based Sintons, further strengthening their construction and engineering team.

Alex’s knowledge of the construction sector comes from first hand experience, after he spent the first three years following his law degree as a trainee quantity surveyor. He then continued his legal training, and opted to specialise in the profession he had come to know and understand.

He said: “The fact I have got my boots dirty as it were, having been on building sites and seen how contracting works, gives me very useful first hand knowledge of the sector. To advise construction clients properly on the legal aspects, whether it be consultants, developers, contractors or sub-contractors you have to fully understand the practical and commercial day to day side too. That is the reason I feel my initial career experience is now so important.”

Alex joins Sintons at a time of growth for the firm, which now employs over 200 people, including 28 partners.

He said: “I wanted to move to a law firm with strength and stability, and somewhere with long term plans for growth in place and a strong commitment to the clients they serve. This was a very big move for me, geographically and career wise, and I am very pleased I decided to join Sintons.”

Alan Dawson, Chairman of Sintons, said: “We are delighted to welcome Alex to Sintons. He has a deep understanding of construction, from his own first hand experience as well as legally, and that will be a real asset to the strong team we already have in place here.”
