Charity Golf Day raises over £2,700 for much-loved regional charity

Over £2,700 was raised through a golf day held in aid of a much-loved regional charity which is celebrating its 65th anniversary.

Law firm Sintons organised the golf day to benefit The Percy Hedley Foundation, which provides a range of care and education services to disabled people and their families. It has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of countless people since its foundation in 1953, when it first opened its doors to 12 children with cerebral palsy.

Sintons has worked with Percy Hedley for a number of years, and its golf day, held at Close House, is one of a number of events the law firm is holding to benefit the charity in its landmark year. The Sintons trainee group have spearheaded the fundraising efforts for Percy Hedley and their next event is a tour of the iconic Grey’s Monument to raise further funds.

The golf day attracted 44 participants, and raised a total of £2,774 through entrance fees and a raffle. Prizes were kindly donated by three of Sintons’ leisure clients – Apartment Group, Gainford Group and Malhotra Group – and a golf flag signed by Lee Westwood was donated by Close House.

The golf day was won by a team from Thermodynamix, based in Gateshead.

Keith Land, Head of Employment and long-standing advisor to The Percy Hedley Foundation, who attended the event, said: “Percy Hedley has become a much-loved and respected charity in the North East for the genuine difference it makes to the lives of its service users and their families. Truly, they are inspirational, and a genuine delight to work with.

“It is very pleasing for us to be able to support them in their 65th anniversary year – the golf day was a great day for all concerned, and we are grateful for the support which enabled us to raise such a great total – and we now look forward to our next event at Grey’s Monument.”

Suzanne McKenna, Head of Fundraising at Percy Hedley, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Sintons for their amazing support and would like to thank everyone involved for raising such a fantastic amount to support our work with children, young people and adults across the North East.”
