Applications invited for solicitor apprenticeship scheme
Applications for Sintons’ apprenticeship programme, which offers an alternative route into a law career, are now open.
The North East Solicitor Apprenticeship combines on-the-job experience with study at Northumbria University, with successful applicants taking up a role as a Solicitor Apprentice at Sintons.
Gemma Hewitt, Head of People Services at Sintons, explains: “The traditional route of going to university isn’t the only way to begin a career in law.
“This programme opens up opportunities for more people to gain a qualification in legal practice and it means they can put what they learn into practice, working alongside experienced lawyers, many of whom are leaders in their fields.”
Sintons is a founding partner in the North East Solicitor Apprenticeship programme which provides apprentices with experience in law firms and in the legal departments of North East businesses.
Over six years, apprentices complete a range of academic modules at Northumbria University alongside their roles as Solicitor Apprentices.
“We were keen to be part of the North East Solicitor Apprenticeship when it was founded in 2017 and every year we have welcomed new Solicitor Apprentices to the Sintons team,” said Gemma.
“Alongside our graduate recruits, these apprentices are the next generation of North East legal talent and this apprenticeship means they can kick-start their legal careers in one of the region’s leading law firms.”
The North East Solicitor Apprenticeship is open to candidates with (or predicted) BBB or above at A Level (120 UCAS points) as well as a minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English, at grades C/5 or above.
The closing date for applications to be received is 16 February 2024 and successful applicants will start their apprenticeships in September 2024.
