Acquisition shortlisted for Property Deal of the Year
The acquisition of one of Newcastle’s most iconic buildings, completed by Sintons on behalf of one of its long-standing clients, has been shortlisted for a coveted award.
Last year, fast-growing Gainford Group purchased the Moot Hall, a Grade I listed building with Ancient Monument status.
The deal was seen as a huge coup for the group, which already owns an extensive property portfolio in the North East and across the UK, and was viewed as a statement of its intent to acquire such a prestigious building, which borders the site of one of its other prominent venues, The Vermont Hotel.
The acquisition was overseen by Sintons, which has acted for Gainford Group for many years and has supported it through all stages of its continuing growth. Real estate partner Alok Loomba, the long-standing advisor to Gainford, with support from Associate Chris Jackson completed the deal.
The deal has now been announced as a finalist in the property deal of the year category of the North East Property Awards 2020. The awards, one of the key events in the region’s business calendar, were established to recognise and reward businesses and individuals working within the region’s property sector for their work on developments, projects and deals over the past 12 months.
It is the second shortlisting for Sintons in the North East Property Awards 2020, having been revealed earlier this week as a finalist for property law firm of the year.
Alok Loomba said: “The acquisition of the Moot Hall was a highly significant deal for Gainford Group and one which we were delighted to support them in completing. This was a transaction with numerous complexities and the timescale was particularly tight, but the vast capability and experience we have within our real estate team meant we could deliver this for our client.
“We are very pleased this transaction has been shortlisted as property deal of the year at the North East Property Awards, which comes as a further endorsement of the work of our real estate team after we were also shortlisted for property law firm of the year. We are regularly instructed in many of the region’s most significant and high-profile transactions, often on behalf of long-standing clients with whom we have build relationships over many years based on the quality of service we deliver every time. This latest independent endorsement of our expertise is fantastic news and we look forward to attending the North East Property Awards later in the year.”
