Sintons has handed over more than £24,000 to a much-loved North East charity, following two years of fundraising on its behalf.
The law firm made the donation to Daft as a Brush, to help support its vital work in transporting outpatients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment to and from the Freeman and RVI hospitals.
An initial fundraising target of £15,000 was set by Sintons when Daft as a Brush was chosen as its nominated charity two years ago, but through the efforts of the firm’s staff, that target has now been exceeded by more than 50 per cent.
A number of major events and fundraising initiatives were organised to raise the sum, including the firm’s biggest-ever golf day, a five-a-side football tournament and a netball tournament, all of which raised thousands of pounds in their own right.
The money comes at an important time for Daft as a Brush, with the COVID-19 pandemic creating difficult fundraising conditions for charities across the country.
The charity relies on donations to ensure its liveried ambulances continue to run, free of charge, across Northumberland, North and South Tyneside, Durham, Newcastle, the Scottish Borders, North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
“Our team, clients and professional network have worked hard and donated generously to raise the fantastic sum of £24,247.62, which is a phenomenal amount to raise and will make a significant positive impact on the work of Daft as a Brush,” says David Pritchard, head of marketing and current chair of the CSR committee at Sintons.
“Over the years, they have supported thousands of cancer patients in enabling them to get to and from appointments, which is often the difference between them receiving their vital treatment and not. This is truly outstanding work and we are delighted to have been able to fundraise on their behalf.”
