Lewis McKeown

2nd year Trainee Solicitor

I am a 2nd year trainee solicitor at Sintons. Even from my first day at Sintons I have felt at home here and everyone has welcomed me with open arms. Everyone I have met is approachable and this has helped my settle in very quickly.

I am born and bred from Newcastle and have never had any intention of moving from the area. Because of this, I knew I wanted to work in the city centre, this is what attracted me to Sintons. I found out about Sintons during a careers fair at Northumbria University, and it was here that they stood out. I spoke to many different firms at the event, but the most friendly and approachable firm was Sintons. It was at this point that I knew I would love to work for Sintons.

I was able to gain two days valuable work experience at Sintons after this careers fair and it was here that I really fell in love with the office and the people. I then applied for the vacation scheme that I was accepted on. Here, I met other aspiring solicitors and took part in different activities both fun and law related. The structure of the week was very good, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was then offered a training contract to start after I completed my degree at Northumbria University, which I duly accepted.

I had to wait two years before starting my training contract while I finished my degree. Therefore, I was worried that I would be forgotten about until my start date. However, this was certainly not the case. I was invited to many events with the other current trainees over the two years and got to know them very well. This helped me settle in faster when I started as I felt I already had friends before starting work.

I do not think I could have chosen a better law firm that matches my values and I am excited to complete my training contract here.
