Edward Pattinson

2nd Year Trainee Solicitor

I am originally from the Lake District, however after spending four years in Newcastle at University, the city quickly became my home.

After completing my law degree at Northumbria University, I worked as a paralegal at a large corporate firm for 4 years. During my time there, I worked extensively alongside trainee solicitors in multiple practice areas, which helped me understand what is expected in the role. In addition to this, I learned the value of strong client care, dedicated employee development, and teamwork.

When I sought to take the next step in my career, I applied to Sintons for several reasons. In particular, Sintons shared my values I had developed in my legal career, offered an extensive range of practice areas to start my legal training within, and had a noteworthy presence in the North-East.

In June 2021, I was fortunate to be invited to Sinton’s assessment week – their second stage of recruitment for trainee solicitors. It was a highly enjoyable week, where I was given valuable insight into the firm’s operations, network, and culture. The tasks I took on were exciting and varied, giving me the opportunity to experience practice areas I had not worked within before. I left the week feeling inspired and focused on joining Sintons, which made receiving the training contract offer all the better.

I accepted the training contract offer in July 2021, since then the communication and support from Sintons was excellent. Ahead of my start in September 2022, the firm arranged a trainee mentor to provide guidance and accommodate any questions I had along the way, this was invaluable to smoothing over my integration into the firm. I was also invited to spend time with the current trainees at their socials outside of work, this went a long way in making me feel a part of firm at an early stage.

I am proud to be a trainee at Sintons, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.
