Employment specialists at Sintons are turning to technology to ensure they can continue to advise businesses and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.

While traditional seminars are not possible amidst the current social distancing measures, Sintons has decided to host two of its scheduled events online, so people can continue to benefit from the free advice of the firm’s specialists.

The team, which has seen a surge in enquiries during the pandemic, is also holding a weekly online Q&A session to help accommodate demand for its advice, with individuals able to submit questions in advance which they would like to be answered.

The measures have been taken in response to unprecedented demand for employment advice during the past few weeks, as employers and employees alike adapt to measures including furlough leave and redundancy situations.

The first of Sintons’ online employment events will concentrate on what happens at the end of furlough leave, the scheme introduced as part of the Government’s Job Retention Scheme. The Managing the End of Furlough session, in conjunction with Reed HR, will be held on Thursday, May 21, from 10am to 11.30am.

The Procedural Pitfalls and Pointers event, which is traditionally one of the best-attended employment events of the year, has also become an online event this year. Again held in conjunction with Reed HR, employment specialists will update on the disciplinary process, using past client matters as real-life examples of scenarios. The session will be held on Thursday, June 18, from 10am to 11.30am.

The employment Q&A is held each Friday in May and a link to the session is sent to any interested parties upon request.

Keith Land, head of employment at Sintons, said: “We are aware that many businesses and employees need advice on employment matters now more than ever, so by hosting events and Q&A sessions online, we are hopeful we can interact with as many people as possible. These are very uncertain and fast-changing times, and employers and employees alike are finding it difficult to keep pace. Our team of experts is on-hand to help and to provide clarity around rights and obligations.

“Our Managing the End of Furlough event is proving hugely popular, as we appreciate from our conversations with many clients that there is a huge amount of uncertainty about what may happen as we aim to return to something like ‘business as usual’. Likewise with our Procedural Pitfalls and Pointers event, which is always very popular, we will continue to help employers understand how to deal with the running of their business and how to properly deal with processes.

“We would urge anyone who needs any advice or clarity on what lies ahead for them or their business to sign up for our sessions or our Q&A. We are here to help you get through these unprecedented times and will support you in doing so as best we can.”
