Charlotte Johnston

1st Year Trainee Solicitor

Sintons initially stood out to me due to its status as a leading firm within the North East of England. Having lived in County Durham for my entire life, and having studied my undergraduate degree at Northumbria University, I have a real affinity with the North East and little desire to relocate, I therefore focused on local firms during my training contract search. Sintons often appeared in the local press and piqued my interest.

I knew that I wanted to work in a firm that was client focused and recognised for its professionalism but also that had a friendly approach and valued its employees as individuals. Sintons appeared to fit this profile and therefore I applied for a space on the graduate recruitment week. The week’s vacation scheme served to confirm my initial opinions of the firm and following this week I knew that Sintons was the right fit for me.

After accepting my training contract offer I was grateful to also be offered a position as a paralegal in Sintons’ Real Estate department for the 18 months preceding my period of recognised training. This experience enabled me to settle into the firm prior to the commencement of my training contract by allowing me to meet many of my colleagues and understand the various systems used by the firm.

For the first seat of my training contract I am to remain in the Real Estate department. I am excited to adapt to my new role in a familiar department but equally looking forward to my next three seats in alternative areas of law. I am confident that I could not have chosen a better firm to commence my legal career and I am excited to experience all the training contract has to offer over the next two years.
