1st Year Trainee Solicitor
Growing up in the North East, I knew that I always wanted to live and work locally. I completed my undergraduate degree at Newcastle University and Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University. I was fortunate enough to secure my Training Contract with Sintons during the second year of my undergraduate degree.
During my years studying at university, I undertook several work experience placements and a mini pupillage which solidified that this was the career I definitely wanted to pursue. I applied for the vacation scheme at Sintons due to the firm’s strong local roots, the breadth of services available to clients and the high quality of work which Sintons attracts. Following the assessment week, I was delighted to be offered a Training Contract with the firm.
During my time on the Legal Practice Course, I was given a buddy who was a second year trainee. My buddy was able to offer me a lot of invaluable advice and support in advance of starting work with Sintons, and I think that the buddy scheme is very valued by all trainees. I was also able to meet a number of my colleagues before starting my Training Contract as the firm continued to offer support and guidance during the final stages of my time at university. This was highly reassuring and has made my transition into working life at Sintons much easier.
In advance of beginning my Training Contract, I was invited to begin work slightly early as a Paralegal within the Commercial Property department at Sintons. My time working as a Paralegal not only offered me the chance to get to know my colleagues, but it also gave me the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and knowledge. I have recently started the first seat of my training in the Commercial Property department, which I have found to be highly interesting and challenging. I love that every day is different and I have contact with clients on a daily basis.
It is a privilege to work within such a supportive, forward thinking and inclusive firm. I very much look forwards to seeing how my skill set will continue to develop during my time with Sintons as a trainee.
