Anthony May

1st Year Trainee Solicitor

I was born and raised in the North East and I studied at Northumbria University as I had no desire to leave the region I call home.

While studying for my law degree, I supported myself by working in a number of roles in the hospitality, entertainment, legal and healthcare industries and gained the skills I would need to complement my academic study in my new role as a Trainee Solicitor at Sintons.

Sintons is the only law firm I applied to. The firm has an excellent reputation in the North East and further afield, and in my previous role as Chair of the North East Junior Lawyers Division I saw the high standards that Sintons’ junior lawyers hold themselves to and felt an affinity with their enthusiasm and work ethic.

When visiting Sintons, I found a firm where people work together to achieve the best result for the clients and while the firm is growing constantly, it does this in a measured and controlled way. Our Managing Partner Chris Welch has made clear, growth cannot come at the expense of the firm’s high standards and it is these high standards that mean the clients trust us and once the work with us once, they stay with us.

The firm has a supportive culture and I have a mentor from the 2022 trainee intake who is encouraged to offer support and guidance even before I joined the firm. In the day-to-day I have found that every person at every level has been willing to help, no matter what the issue is from partners providing guidance on important client work to my first week when an Associate showed me how to use the coffee machine.
